Don't worry about it, it was just something stupid. [ and because he knows Toby would ask. ] It was a picture of me.

[ Dorian can't help but laugh a little at this, a 'god I'm such an idiot' sort of laugh. ] This all just sounds so ridiculous now, but I thought that maybe it would help convince you to come back to the apartment.

[Toby lets out a light chuckle.] Well, that does sound ridiculous, but. It's just the sort of thing I've really missed about you all this time. You should send it to me anyway.

[ And then Toby gets sent the two day old selfie of Dorian in bed, shirtless, with the sheets barely covering his dick. ]

[It's quiet for a moment while Toby tries to view the file, and he can't help smiling and inwardly musing about Dorian when he finally sees it.]

No, you look exactly as I'd expected. You still look good. [A pause. Toby clears his throat.] Um, so. I called in to a television show, hoping that maybe I'd reach you. Happen to hear about that at all?

Not really. They don't make small talk about television when you're serving drinks. [ a pause, before he asks ] What show was it?

Figures, or else they might have something better to do. Arguably. Anyway, it was the first episode of Millennial Mysticism. [He choke-laughs right after saying it, he's pretty embarrassed.] However many people got your picture, my call is immortalized on that show now.

[ Dorian doesn't say 'what the hell kind of a name is that' but he's thinking it, as he laughs slightly ] One of the people I sent that picture to was my very-much-taken former probation officer. I think we're both equally embarrassed. [ he's gentle as he talks but god, that yearning is still so obvious. ]

[Hearing the yearning in Dorian's voice gets him, and he finds himself feeling somewhere between anxious and somber.]

You know, ever since I went off and texted the hostage-taker, I've been thinking... I'm sorry, Dorian. For doubting you. I really shouldn't have, not when you've been trying so hard, just for me. Meanwhile, I... simply took the easy way out, I guess. And I shouldn't have, really.

[Then he grows quiet for a moment, feeling ambivalent about the things he wants to say. What should he say now, and which things are better said face to face?]

Oh, I. Wanted to say... that I'll be home soon.

[ Dorian can't help it. Those are the magic words, as soon as he hears that, a small trace of hope pops up in his voice. ]

Really? [ because he's missed Toby. God, he's missed Toby. he's missed him so much. ] I'll have to make the place look less disgusting then.

[When he hears Dorian perk up, Toby lets out a relieved sigh.]

Yes, really. You don't have to clean up, you just have to be there, is all. I only want you. Nothing else matters, Dorian.

[ Dorian just sounds so happy as he lets out a small, little relieved laugh. ]

In that case, I'll definitely be there. I'm not moving until you get here, [ said with a happy tone of voice ]
