Well, it stands. I've known plenty of people who ended up falling into the orbit, as it were, of jealous possessive arseholes. And I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now.

Something more likely to happen within proximity of one another, though the more extreme emotions apparently carry over distances, such as from Heropa to Maurtia Falls. [A brief pause; he wears a thoughtful expression.] Anyway, so I guess what I mean by ridiculous is that having similarly intense, negative feelings can really send us for a wild ride. Certainly took us long enough to get through the first stages of that...

[He continues to stare at Toby, cold and imperious, saying nothing as he speaks. The admittance of guilt does nothing to quench his thirst, but at least he has the decency not to beg for pity. He remains silent for a moment longer before he shakes his head and stands up.]

[Toby feels completely stunned. He doesn't know what happened, he doesn't know why Edgeworth seems so completely changed. Everything seemed to have transpired so suddenly, and now Edgeworth is walking out on him without so much as a comment or explanation. It was Edgeworth who wanted to pursue justice and mine for the truth; the least he could do now is tell Toby what all this is about.

Oh, he wants to stop Edgeworth from leaving, wants to demand to know what Edgeworth intends to do given all that information. But his mind is overwhelmed and defeated by the effects of the bond and the confusion of their exchange. So instead, he simply watches as Edgeworth's back soon disappears from sight.]

His name's Tobias Matthews but I can call him Toby. He's just so kind and wonderful and he's literally the best thing that's ever happened to me. We met back home, in the 1980s, at a costume party. He's ten times a better person than I am and I really wish that everybody could just SEE that. He's gotten so much shit lately but is it his fault? Of course not, sometimes these things just happen and if everybody back home knew the full story and knew about those damn tarot cards, then they'd see just how wonderful he is like I do.
