[Toby glances up as Dorian approaches, his gaze following as Dorian sets the glass down. He sniffles as he sits up and reaches for the glass.]

Of course, of course! [He takes a long sip and sighs.] Great timing, really. Could've chosen a couple weeks earlier, or maybe later, but no.

[He trails off, melodramatic. Then he lets out a heavy sigh before setting the glass back down and slumping back into the sofa.]

So much for my anniversary... but yours is coming up soon, yeah?

Early July, [ Dorian mused, as he took a sip of the bottle. He can't help but pause for a moment, thinking to himself. ]

You know...I know we both want a big ceremony but there is an option to get the legal aspect out of the way first so that if something ruins our ceremony again at least we'd be officially married.

[ Because now that Dorian's been reminded of the fact that this place is stupid and ridiculous and can ruin his happiness at any moment...he's worried it'll happen again. ]

[Yes, that is a possibility, isn't it? Though Toby's in too irrational a mood to give it any actual consideration right this moment.

Still, he'll come around... eventually. Like he did when Dorian asked to paint him, back in the 80's.

With an irritated huff,] I know, I know. Ugh, I just...

[No, he's pretty fucking annoyed right now, managing to drag himself up to take another long sip. This time he leans forward instead of returning to slumping back in his seat.]

I'm sorry, I really don't know what to think right now. All of this was so sudden, everyone's all acting weird, and we both had worked so hard. [...to get it as close to perfect as possible in less than a month's time, for crying out loud!]

[ Dorian knows that Toby's annoyed. And really, he's annoyed as well. Though while Toby's annoyance is manifesting itself as whining and pouting, Dorian's annoyance is manifesting itself as a strong desire to throttle whichever idiot messed this up in the first place.

So the bitch session and pity party shall continue because hey, their wedding got ruined! Time to gripe! ]

Whoever caused this nonsense this time has a lot to answer for.

[ because of course someone caused it. Someone always caused it. ]

[Eyebrows raised and forehead creased, he glances over to Dorian with a questioning expression. Dorian seems quite certain someone else caused this, and it's not like he doesn't have a point. If it's not another imPort starting something with their powers or their science projects or whatever, then it's the Porter or the Soviets. It's always something or someone...]

Yeah. I wonder who or what it could be this time... You have your suspicions?

[Dorian's been here longer, after all. Almost two years; it's a little hard to believe. But then again, Toby's been here a year now. Still, maybe Dorian can think of someone who might... do whatever has suddenly got into everyone.]

[ Dorian's certain it's someone else due to past experience as well as the fact that the changes make no sense to him. Hawke's suddenly some sort of posh lady and Kanaya's actually talking to the two? Usually there's some logical sense to the changes: everybody's a baby! Everybody's old! Everybody's got different powers! ]

Hell if I know. It's probably some magic sort of bullshit—that would make sense why some people think they just arrived while others think they've been here forever.

[ Though really, as Dorian takes a swig out of the bottle again, his suspicions are mostly "who gives a damn, time to drink." ]

Magic, hmm... I guess that makes sense.

[They spend quite a bit of time drinking until Toby moves to the compartment beneath the telly and starts going through games and boxes until he finds something that will grant some measure of satisfaction by allowing him to shoot people in the head. Then, he fires it up...]

Care to join me, dear? [He knows Dorian isn't really all that into it, but it is shooting people in the head. Even if it isn't real.

Besides, he doesn't want Dorian to fall asleep on him.]

[ Dorian isn't normally one for Toby's shooty Playstation games. But he is feeling rather grumpy. And it would be fun. He takes one more large drink of the wine before, ]

Why not. It would certainly be a distraction, at least. Point me in the direction of how best to murder people!

[A tiny smile spreads across Toby's lips as he hands Dorian a controller.]

Now, that's the spirit. And this is quite literally the perfect game for it.

[It's probably something like MoM-verse GTA4. Easy targets littered about, easy access to weapons, and an assortment of cars to steal, ditch, crash, or kill people with.]

[ Dorian....is absolutely rubbish with it and crashes like every car he gets his hands on. He's not mad though, just laughingas he accidentally drives the car into a minimart. ]

This is so much easier in real life!

Yeah, no shit, Sherlock! But at least you won't actually be arrested.

[Toby laughs, too, whenever he glances over at what Dorian's doing.]

Shall I drive over to where you are? to pick you up?

Yes please, [ Dorian grumbles as he looks at his crashed car with an air of despondency. What is Dorian not good at? Answer, video games. ]

[Now, it's not that Toby expects Dorian to be the best at everything; in fact, he already knows there are many things at which Dorian is truly a failure. But there's an amusing sense of satisfaction that comes from being better at this than Dorian is.

As Toby makes his way over to where Dorian is,] Grab some guns and ammo, dear. Let's tear the city down!

[He soon pulls up to Dorian, waiting for him to scramble into the vehicle.]

[ Dorian can't help but laugh as he moves his guy to Toby's car, grinning all the while. ]

You get to drive, babe. I'll...I don't know, find a machine gun or something.

Sounds like a plan.

[He gets to it, video game driving like a pro! Toby tears down the street until he can find them some firepower. As the vehicle skids to a stop,]

Over there! Let's go!

[ Dorian can't help but laugh as he watches Toby tear the car down the street. ]

You're the one driving, you're the boss!

[So they play the game, mowing people down with cars, gunning people down as they pass by, and getting chased and hunted down by police. Still, they laugh all the way through their fake sins and mistakes alike because what should it matter when this is all just a game?

After getting busted or killed for the umpteenth time, the two finally seem to have had their fill or are worn out, or perhaps even a combination of both when Toby comments,]

Phew... You know, Dorian. I've been thinking. About what you said earlier...

[ Dorian lets Toby do most of the heavy lifting during their video game but gladly backs him up, shoots down people who are bothering him, and dies a few times. He's leaning against the back of the couch, utterly contented, when Toby starts talking. ]

About what, the small ceremony idea? Or something else?

[ because Dorian's might not remember WHAT he said earlier. ]

Getting the legal aspect out of the way, at the very least.

[Because having a small ceremony would be like doing something halfway, and could these two really handle something like that? Absolutely not!]

[ Dorian can'e help but light up a little at that, smile spreading on his face. Getting the legal aspect out of the way...making sure they were married married so that if something happened (though he really hoped something wouldn't happen) it'd at least be official. ]

I'd love that, [ he responds, still smiling. ]

[Pushing his controller aside, Toby leans back against the sofa with a relieved and contented expression. It really does seem like a good idea, getting the stress of all that out of the way to just be married.

Is it his turn to sort of get cold feet? A little, yeah. In their time, in their world, they wouldn't even have to do this. No one else really had to acknowledge who or what they were together, there wasn't any need for it to be official. All the same, Toby had dreamed of it, wished for it, and made it reality in this world.

So while it would've been absolutely delightful to have both the ceremony and official paperwork at the same time... Well, they've made compromises before, and they aren't exactly losing out on this one.]

We can do it, then. [He reaches for Dorian's hand into his own and brush it with his cool fingers.] Get it worked out, celebrate it with everyone else some other day.

[ When Toby takes his hand, Dorian gives it a soft squeeze, looking over at Toby with a rapt and happy expression. God, how he loves this man. ]

Personally, that sounds wonderful. [ And Dorian leans in to give Toby a small kiss. Of course he wanted a big ceremony. And they were going to have a big ceremony. But with this world, with the knowledge that either of them could get Ported out at any minute...having it be legally binding the sooner the better was obviously the best choice. ]

[And Toby returns that small kiss with one of his own. Soft and sweet and probably more chaste than their usual borderline naughty ones.

As they pull away,] I love you, Dorian Gray.

I love you too, Tobias Matthews, [ Dorian purred, giving Toby the gentlest smile he can muster. ]
