[Although truth be told, he'd love to go anywhere with Dorian. But right now, he can't help feeling disappointed they aren't either here or there together, so soon after he'd finally come back home.]

So. [Still, Toby tries not to sound the way he feels, at the very least.] I... hope you enjoy your little trip, then. Bring me a nice little surprise, would you?

[ Dorian's got a pretty good idea about how Toby's feeling. When he speaks, there's a gentle little tone in his voice. ]

The next time I'm shanghaied into a trip by a tiny little witch-boy, I'll make puppy eyes at him so we can grab you first.

[There's a smile in his voice.] Only if you make sure it's nighttime at our destination, and I hope he doesn't mind waiting while you wake me.

[Toby knows it's not easy to get him up in the daytime once he's drifted to sleep.]

Anyway, what got you convinced to go there today? Sounds like you'd gone on a whim rather than planning this trip in advance.

I hyped up gelato at the last swear-in. Apparently, simply hearing about the ice cream wasn't enough for him.

And a very energetic child at that, [ said with a little laugh. ] I suppose this is why grand magical power isn't given to ten year olds.

Perhaps not where we're from, but here? [He chuckles.] Looks like the Porter takes all kinds.

[Finally, his curiosity gets the best of him, even though he'd just told Dorian to surprise him.] Anyway, what sort of souvenir were you thinking of getting me? I mean, obviously you don't have to tell me what you had in mind, but maybe a hint or clue of what it might relate to?

Something nice. Maybe something Italian leather? I do think I remember your shoe size, after all.

You had better! Most of our things are about the same size, anyway.

[Benefits to both being 5'10, and only a centimeter of height difference! Shopping for the boyfriend made easy! Shame that Toby himself has questionable taste.]

A good pair of shoes it is! Italian leather's supposed to be high-class, so you'll have something lovely to wear at the next swear-in.

[To wear at the next swear-in... does he mean the one where he's gonna get stabbed by a tiny queen? Is Toby gonna have to pick up Dorian's carcass and wind up getting blood on his new shoes? :|

[ Hey now, he's getting stabbed in the eye, Dorian can walk if he's just stabbed in the eye. ]

In that case, I can't wait to be back.

[Maybe so, but it's incredible how much blood comes from eye injuries. So even if he isn't dragging Dorian around, it might still get on his shoes. Also, tsk tsk, making Toby stupidly hungry in public...




Toby wants to ask if Dorian really had to go in the first place. Though at least he actually called to let Toby know. Again, he tries not to sound dejected or passive aggressive about it.]

Yeah... I. Probably should let you go, carry on with your friend, get your gelato, and so on. Um, well then. Take care, see you... tomorrow or the day after, yeah?
