[Before heading out, Toby checks in with Dorian and makes sure his boyfriend knows he isn't suddenly running away again. Heading out for drinks, who with; Dorian seems strangely accommodating this evening despite whatever bad blood is between him and Edgeworth. Huh.

Instead of taking the Porter to Heropa like usual, Toby minds his destination. Nonah. Suddenly, he's there for the very first time—there's certainly a very different feel to it.

When he finally meets up with Edgeworth,] By the way, have you been to Nonah before?

[While Edgeworth wasn't nervous about his outing, there's a default amount of tension that one can see in his movements and in his posture, in how he carries himself and how he speaks. He relaxes automatically once he sees Toby, though, and while there's no visible smile on his lips, there's a hint of one in his eyes]

Ah- a few times, but I can't say I ever checked out the night life. I suppose there's no time like the present, though.

/patpat it happens, yeah?

No, there isn't.

[Toby seems comfortable, even pleasantly pleased to have Edgeworth's company this evening. With a playful smile, he gestures forward with an open hand.]

Shall we? This is uncharted territory for me, something of an adventure. Oh, and—of course, thanks for inviting me out tonight.

[takethestairs]

[And finally, Edgeworth smiles back, before he takes a step forward and begins his search for a new drinking hole]

It's no trouble at all. I take it you didn't have anything else planned?

[He hums in thought as he walks beside Edgeworth, if only half a step behind.]

Not really, no. Just me and you, and a night on the town. It's not as if I have a curfew— [Dorian can't tell Toby what to do with his time; besides, the night is all he has.] —so I'm up for anything, if you're interested. Even something so simple as an evening stroll, discovering Nonah.

[He huffs out lightly, and shakes his head]

I'd be concerned if you did have a curfew.

[He doesn't take that comment further - Toby was only joking, and Edgeworth knows it. He stuffs his hands in the pockets of his jacket and continues walking, enjoying the cool night air]

Though, when we're done with Nonah, perhaps we should set our sight on another city. The problem is traveling outside of where the Porters are connected to.

[Edgeworth needn't know Toby's only half-joking. Besides, he's pretty sure they'll be in before the morning twilight hours, and certainly before sunrise itself. They're out early enough that Toby doesn't think they need to rush.]

Indeed. There aren't nearly enough places with access to the Porter, and sometimes it seems to far to visit neighboring areas of cities that do have access.

[Like visiting Lucy's farm, which is a thirty minute drive out of De Chima. Arranging to visit her and making it indoors before daylight can be quite the challenge.]

Though, to be honest, are there any other places that could support imPorts?

[He hums to himself for a moment, thinking]

It's possible that access is limited to the cities that can handle us effectively.

[After a couple moments of thought,] I suppose you're right. They can't have imPorts strewn about their country.

...Though I wonder what it takes to qualify as a Porter city—access to a Porter and a military base, for starters.

And jobs, as well - idle hands are the devil's playthings, or so they say. It's hard to wreak havoc if we're keeping ourselves busy.

[Toby wants to protest that not all imPorts would wreak havoc, but he knows one of the first things he'd done upon arrival was feed on a native. He had to, of course, because the sun had weakened him so, but Edgeworth's point still stands. Besides, he'd been abducted, and the fear gas perfected on him was then unleashed on imPorts and natives alike. Even if the government knows what an imPort is capable of, there's no telling what they'll do with that power, and so they need precautions.]

True enough.

[Though he's heard of how many imPorts who never go to their jobs and still end up getting paid. But that's irrelevant, and Edgeworth's point still stands.]

And how is your job, might I ask? Did you keep whatever the government had assigned you?
