Not at all; in fact, I imagine you'd have top marks. [How could he not, with the way Abduxel started harassing him? Granted, Toby asked Dorian for exclusivity, and maybe this wouldn't have happened otherwise, but still.] One of Hell's elite, perhaps?

[abduxel]

[That makes him laugh again, but this time it's more extended.]

You know, Toby, you aren't so bad for a vampire.

[He was soooo not one of Hell's elites. He raises a hand to order two more drinks from a waiter.]

Ha! [He smiles broadly.] Even so, I don't expect you'll be making house calls for me anytime soon.

[Because this little bonding experience can't possibly have made Abduxel like him that much more, so far as Toby's concerned.]

Well, that depends. Do you need a Customs Officer for anything? Maybe a cavity search?

[Completely flabbergasted for a couple or so stupefying moments.]

Wh-What? NO, th—that's. [Originally, he almost went with "No, thank you," before realizing not a single ounce of thanks is due.

However, he isn't actually protesting a cavity search. otz« If anything, he doubts Abduxel would come by unannounced.] That's unnecessary, really.

[He props his head up with a hand, elbow on the table, to lean towards Toby while he swishes his wine glass around in the other hand.

Although he's got a little shit-eating grin, he manages to repress how much Toby's flustered response makes him want to laugh.]

Is it? You sure? I can wear gloves, if that's what you're worried about.

[hisheartsdesire]

[Now stunned, Toby actually vampire-blushes, colour slightly changing on his face and at the tips of his ears.]

That's not what I'm worried about, and given thought, I likely won't be needing your services. Or, at least, anything other than a blood donation.

[abduxel]

[He's delighted to see that Toby's blushing, and he immediately smiles with creased eyebrows and a tilted head. Without thinking, he tries to reach and touch Toby's cheek, completely distracted from the topic at hand.]

Does that actually feel warm?

[Yet this is probably one of the more awkward things he could say in this moment.]

[Still shocked, Toby makes no attempt to avoid or resist the demon.

The difference would be barely perceptible to any normal person. It's much like when Toby fed on Dorian and seemed to be the only one who had noticed the creases and wrinkles in Dorian's skin. Perhaps Abduxel can feel the difference, as he may be attuned to it, and it's something he's searching for.

Finally, Toby snaps out of it and swats Abduxel's hand away. But now he's speechless, having forgotten the direction of their conversation.]

[abduxel]

[He lets Toby smack his hand away, and returns it to his own drink to take a sip. There's the shadow of a laugh hiding in his tone:]

I didn't know vampires could blush.

[hisheartsdesire]

[He swallows the lump of anxiety in his throat before taking a nice long sip of his drink before responding.]

I... didn't think you'd be so interested.

[abduxel]

[With an amused tone,] I'm just messing with you, Tobias. [A beat.] Although I wouldn't kick you out of bed, if you really want to know... and there would be something so primally satisfying about it if I managed to seduce you after all the trouble you caused me.

[hisheartsdesire]

[Toby feels confused and burnt out by the demon's back and forth between harassment and jest, that he's unsure how to react and needs a moment or so to fully process a response.

Defensively, ] As if I'd just crawl into your bed after all that.

[abduxel]

[Abduxel is a trying and tiring person to have a conversation with, really, made all the worse by the fact that he has no built-in social shame, no embarrassment that this is awkward. He's having a great time and knocks back some more wine.]

You don't find me handsome?

Don't be ridiculous. I never said anything of the sort; you're putting words in my mouth. I'd have to be a fool to think you unattractive.

Well, Toby, look at you being such a smooth-talker. Keep going and I might think you want to crawl into my bed.

I have far too much self-restraint for that, obviously.

[If there's anyone's bed he's crawling into, it's not Abduxel's. Not yet, anyway.]

[abduxel]

Obviously. I suppose after so many hundred years, you get really good at controlling your impulses, don't you?

[hisheartsdesire]

Possibly. [Inwardly hoping this won't go where he thinks this will go, though there's more than one direction. Still, there are some that just aren't good, so far as Toby's concerned.] I guess that all depends...

[abduxel]

Depends on what?

[He leans forward a little.]

How hungry you are?

[hisheartsdesire]

[He draws back but can only move so far without being ridiculous.]

Perhaps.

[His eyes narrow, brows furrow, body language becomes guarded again. The hunger, he hates it as much as he needs it, and it only worsens when others taunt him about killing. Quick and efficient, or something he'd rather savour? Doesn't he want the blood, its richness and warmth when it's fresh from the hunt? And how he hates siring so much, after taking blood he robs people of their very lives before moving along.]

[abduxel]

Perhaps.

[He says it a bit mockingly, but not meanly. Well, sort of.]

What would you do if I spilled blood right here, right now? I'm just curious. How long does it take before you let go?

[hisheartsdesire]

[Toby's stuck, his imagination taking over at the thought of the demon's rich, thick, delicious blood. He swallows, but his mouth just keeps watering. And it even seems to affect his breathing; the way he's keyed up, he has to breathe slower, deeper.]

Ugh— [He swallows.] —don't.

[abduxel]

[Quietly,]

Don't what?

[He's got a knife in his hand, suddenly, the tip of it pressed to his other wrist but not cutting. He's nearly whispering.]
