Tobias may one day learn to change the greeting on his voicemail. Until then, there's only the default.

There was, but it was rather short-lived. While he wasn't exactly happy that I invited you for drinks, he accepted it once the shock wore off. I doubt he'll give me - or you - any more trouble over it.

Any place you'd like. Would you prefer to stick to Heropa tonight, or shall we see what the other cities have to offer?
no subject
[Of course, if Edgeworth would rather play it safe, Toby's more than happy to go along with it.]

Maurtia Falls isn't exactly my idea of a good time, to be honest. How about something in Nonah? Or...hrm, how does De Chima sound to you? There's a new place that opened up a couple months ago, a few blocks down from-
[From the university, he's about to say, before he clamps his mouth shut. He quickly clears his throat, rethinking this conversation]
-from this, ah, restaurant I visited. Though, all things considering, I think Nonah might be the better choice.
no subject
Nonah! I've never actually been there. Might as well give it a go. Take the Porter and meet at the Nonah base, then walk together—sound good?

Yeah, that sounds excellent. See you then, Edgeworth.
[There's a smile in his voice. Tonight will probably be a good one.]

[Edgeworth catches himself smiling as he hangs up, and quickly stuffs his phone in his pocket. Honestly, it's just drinks... Still, he doesn't think he's seen, or heard, Toby look forward to an outing this much since they met. Then again, most of their outings had been by pure chance. Nobody who wanders around at two in the morning is going to be in a good moot. Edgeworth shoves these thoughts aside and arranges a quick text to Dorian before he starts to get ready]
perma-action;
Instead of taking the Porter to Heropa like usual, Toby minds his destination. Nonah. Suddenly, he's there for the very first time—there's certainly a very different feel to it.
When he finally meets up with Edgeworth,] By the way, have you been to Nonah before?
iconless until tomorrow. Sorry bout that
Ah- a few times, but I can't say I ever checked out the night life. I suppose there's no time like the present, though.
/patpat it happens, yeah?
[Toby seems comfortable, even pleasantly pleased to have Edgeworth's company this evening. With a playful smile, he gestures forward with an open hand.]
Shall we? This is uncharted territory for me, something of an adventure. Oh, and—of course, thanks for inviting me out tonight.
no subject
It's no trouble at all. I take it you didn't have anything else planned?
no subject
Not really, no. Just me and you, and a night on the town. It's not as if I have a curfew— [Dorian can't tell Toby what to do with his time; besides, the night is all he has.] —so I'm up for anything, if you're interested. Even something so simple as an evening stroll, discovering Nonah.
no subject
I'd be concerned if you did have a curfew.
[He doesn't take that comment further - Toby was only joking, and Edgeworth knows it. He stuffs his hands in the pockets of his jacket and continues walking, enjoying the cool night air]
Though, when we're done with Nonah, perhaps we should set our sight on another city. The problem is traveling outside of where the Porters are connected to.
no subject
Indeed. There aren't nearly enough places with access to the Porter, and sometimes it seems to far to visit neighboring areas of cities that do have access.
[Like visiting Lucy's farm, which is a thirty minute drive out of De Chima. Arranging to visit her and making it indoors before daylight can be quite the challenge.]
no subject
[He hums to himself for a moment, thinking]
It's possible that access is limited to the cities that can handle us effectively.
no subject
...Though I wonder what it takes to qualify as a Porter city—access to a Porter and a military base, for starters.

no subject
True enough.
[Though he's heard of how many imPorts who never go to their jobs and still end up getting paid. But that's irrelevant, and Edgeworth's point still stands.]
And how is your job, might I ask? Did you keep whatever the government had assigned you?
