[ post April guilting Dorian into telling Toby about the months-long plan to fuck-up Will Graham that spiraled terribly out of control, Dorian sends Toby a text. ]

Can you be at the house tonight babe? Need to talk about something.
(Don't worry, I'll bring JD)

[ maybe talking about this will relieve some of that massive pit of guilt that Dorian has about not mentioning the whole 'Satan's got your body' thing. also maybe it'll end up with him sleeping on the couch but only one way to find out. ]

[ Smart thinking, Toby. ]

Well, depending on who you like, this might be another instance of "I potentially ruined one of your friendships because I can't really see past my own issues to realize that Toby likes people as well."
Sorry.

[ At least this time Dorian is acutely aware of just how badly he fucked up (because he fucked up. He fucked up bad.) ]

Does 8pm work for you?

[ A little before 8, Dorian pushes the door to their apartment open, laden with a bottle of Jack Daniels for Toby and a bottle of gin for himself. Going into the kitchen, he starts to pour Toby a glass of whiskey before he makes himself a mixed drink. ]

So, do you want the synopsis then the story, or the story then the synopsis?

[ Said as he watches his husband brutally murder video game people, oh whyyyy didn't he tell Toby about this earlier. ]

[ Dorian is the king of thinking that everything's fucked up beyond belief. Hence, booze. ]

Well, if you hear Frederick Chilton whinging about organs anytime soon, it's a little bit my fault.

[ It is entirely his fault. Dorian walks into the living room, offering Toby his drink before he takes a sip of his own. ]
brushoff: (yeah well what about THIS)

I...well, I do. [ This is going to suck so hard, as shown by Dorian's slightly guilty expression. ]

Months ago, I saw Chilton in a psychiatric capacity, more for shits and giggles than anything else. He suggested I find a project, someone to work on. I picked Will Graham, unfortunately believing the two were actually close and unaware of the fact that I'd actually like Graham later. The general gist was worm my way into Graham's affection, with the intent to turn him away from Chilton or alternatively, to break him entirely. It ended up being the latter, as for some reason, I decided that it would be a great idea to psychologically terrorize him with body parts while continuing to worm my way into his life.

[ this is the man you chose to marry. There's a pause, while Dorian takes a sip of his gin. ]

To you?

[ Dorian remarks, with incredulity. He knew that Toby was seeing Chilton in a professional capacity. And he's sure Toby and Will got along just fine, everybody and Will got along just fine. But he didn't expect Toby to actually care about the two of them. As such, Toby's remark just throws Dorian entirely off guard. ]

In an ideal world, you'd have nothing to do with this to begin with!

[ but this isn't an ideal world, is it. Everything's fallen apart around Dorian's head and that's what you get for not doing things like 'including your husband in your plans' and 'being a horrible person.' And Dorian knows that statement sounded horrible so quickly, hurriedly, he amends it. ]

Toby, all this started long before we got married, before you saw Chilton, before you were in jail. I just...I didn't know how to stop it.

[ or if he even wanted to stop it to begin with. ]

Of course I didn't enjoy it! It hurt like hell.

[ Dorian practically spit out the words, fists clenched, nails digging into his palm. Of course he didn't enjoy it, especially since Will Graham got his revenge, cutting Dorian up simply because he could. A part of him wants to tell Toby that...but what's he going to get in return? An 'I told you so'? A 'you deserved it'? More arguing about somehow Dorian ruined Toby's friendship with Will despite the fact that ]

I'm nice to April and Sasha because I like them. They weren't supposed to get involved in this either. April helped me out when you were in jail, of course I didn't want her dragged into this mess!

[ He can't help but mention Toby's stint in jail because really? That's when all this got kicked into high gear, wasn't it. And, at least in Dorian's mind, Sasha hasn't gotten involved in this. But it's collateral damage. People getting in the way, getting hurt because surprise, people care about each other, a fact which Dorian is just recently discovering. His tone is pleading, trying to hope and pray that he'd get something from Toby that wasn't sheer rage. ]

I shouldn't have even picked them in the first place.

[ That sigh is not really what Dorian wants to hear. He slinks down further in his chair, a borderline sulk. Toby's disappointed. But in what, Dorian's choice of victim or the fact that he had a victim in the first place? Hell if Dorian knows. And really, until further notice, he's assuming a bit fat both.

What now indeed.
]

Hell if I know, [ Dorian admits, with a small little sigh. ] I've already apologized to April and Will...well, we're working on it.

[ slowly but surely and in the worst ways possible. There's absolutely no mention of Chilton because that meeting went exceedingly pear-shaped on all sides. ]
brushoff: (idek what this expression is)

[personal profile] brushoff 2016-08-18 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ 'I don't expect us to divulge all of them.' Well that hits Dorian like a ton of bricks. Because hoo boy does he have a secret and hoo boy does he simultaneously want to tell Toby what happened back home and also not tell him at all. Now isn't the time, though. If he told Toby now...well, Dorian couldn't help but wonder if he'd ever see Toby again. ]

This is something I should have told you months ago, [ Dorian finishes, still a bit slumped over in his chair while still looking directly at Toby. ] And I'm honestly, truly sorry I didn't.

I assume she does. I mean, they've been together for ages, haven't they? Surely Chilton's told Raina what was up.

[ But that implies that Chilton and Raina talk in their relationship and they both know that "talking about things" might not be the strong point in a relationship. ]

I haven't actually talked to her about it, if you mean. I doubt she'll take it well.

I haven't spoken to her since this all came out into the open. [ said with a vague hand gesture. This all. This all, this everything with regards to Dorian and his organs and Will Graham. ]

I'll shoot her a text to find out where she stands.

[ Dorian's got a feeling that she's....not going to be too pleased about all of this. ]

Correct, [ Dorian simply responds, with a nod. ] I know he's been helpful to you but honestly, I don't trust the man. I saw him for a little while, just to see what he was like, what he would say to a special case like myself.

[ After all, 'Dorian Gray'? It's a psychiatrist's wet dream. Just how said psychiatrist would respond to it was the interesting part. ]

I wasn't impressed, [ Dorian bluntly responded. ]
